New look for Park House
Ocean is carrying out extensive work at Park House as part of it’s continued investment in homes for local people.
Park House is the only high rise block of flats in Cornwall consisting of 67 flats in 11 stories. It was originally constructed in 1968 and this is the first major refurbishment
The project includes a replacement roof that is highly thermal efficient, providing a far greater level of insulation for the block. Scott Allen, Ocean’s Asset Manager said: “As a responsible landlord Ocean takes affordable warmth seriously and this high performing roof helps to keep heat loss to a minimum, which in turn will hopefully reduce tenants’ fuel bills.”
Following the necessary external remedial repairs, a special weather proof coating system will be applied to the external walls of the flats. The new coating will give the flats a fresh, contemporary feel which will fit into its existing location and surroundings. Scott explained Ocean held various meetings with tenants and residents to discuss the nature of the work and that they chose the colour of the external coating: “We wanted to ensure that they felt part of the process and would be happy with the end result.”
Scaffolding and safety netting will be erected within the next two weeks to enable the works to commence. Tenants and residents are delighted that it can be undertaken without them having to move out of their homes. The work will be completed by this Christmas.
