Ocean Housing and Age Concern in Cornwall launched a new drop in activities centre on Friday (28 November) at Windmill House in Fowey

Mathew Taylor, MP for Truro and St Austell, officially opened Ocean’s £ 2.5 million housing development in the village of Penwithick, close to St Austell, on Friday 21st November.

Ocean’s super energy efficient homes with the latest technology in heat recovery and solar power were officially opened today at Hannaford Close in St Columb Road. Ocean was joined by local residents and its partners in this cutting edge development, Restormel Borough Council.

In the week Gordon Brown’s government announced significant investment to improve insulation and energy efficiency of homes, Cornwall’s Ocean Housing Group were in Coventry receiving the Corgi Award for energy efficiency at this year’s national plumbing and heating show.

With rising prices in the shops and economic and political commentators, all predicting a tough time ahead, Ocean Housing Group Ltd is fighting back to try and reduce bills for their residents and tenants.

The housing management service provided by Ocean Housing Limited is ‘fair’ and has ‘promising prospects for improvement’, according to an independent report released by the Audit Commission

Following the recent St Austell Voice article, Ocean held an informal briefing session with Members of Restormel Borough Council on the 21 February 2008, to advise them of the range of services and contracts that the Ocean Group provides both within Restormel and also within Cornwall

Ocean is to be the subject of a week long study by the Audit Commission, an independent watchdog, between the dates of 12 – 16 May 2008
