Penwithick goes Green

The Penwithick project will be the first of its kind, providing private homeowners the chance to receive up to £10,000 worth of energy saving technology in their homes from insulation to ground source heating technology.

Penwithick Retrofit

Penwithick RetrofitThis is a unique green investment in Penwithick which will give around 70 homes the opportunity to have energy efficient technology fitted to their homes for free!

The project will provide homeowners the opportunity of a comfortable and economic way of living within the Penwithick area and will be the first step towards reducing carbon emissions and energy bills in Cornwall and will hopefully be the starting point for future schemes.

Ocean Services, working in partnership with Cornwall Council who is funding the scheme, will be delivering the whole project from public meetings to installing the energy efficient technology into the homes.

Phil Smith, Managing Director of Ocean Services, said ‘The Penwithick Retrofit Project’ will be a ground-breaking and exciting project which Ocean Services are delighted to be working on. The project will be a positive move in assisting the Penwithick Community to become environmentally friendly and will be an important step in the delivery of the council’s Green Cornwall Programme.’

‘Ocean Services has extensive experience of installing renewable energy solutions into existing Ocean homes which makes us ideally positioned to be the Cornwall Council’s delivery partner for this project.’

Cllr Julian German, Portfolio Holder for Waste Management, Climate Change and Historic Environment, said ‘The Penwithick Retrofit Project’ is a great opportunity for residents to reduce their bills. Homeowner’s involvement in the Retrofit Pilot is essential for the development of a wider scheme that could benefit homeowners across the whole of Cornwall. The Council is committed to developing a scheme that will provide an opportunity for every homeowner to reduce their energy bills and improve their health prospects at the same time as creating a greener Cornwall.’

Cllr Chris Rowe, the Local Member for Penwithick said, ‘We are privileged to have been chosen for the first pilot retrofit scheme which is taking place in Penwithick. I would like to ask residents that if they have any queries or concerns about the scheme to contact me directly on 07974944683.’
